I looked at my hands.

If you are on this site, you probably know my story. I participated in an ultrasound guided abortion, where I was holding the ultrasound probe. I watched a baby struggle for its life during the abortion. That’s why I do what I do now.

After the abortion was over, I stood there in shock…almost numb. Then I looked down at my hands. They they were. One on the probe…one resting on the woman’s belly…the place where life once was. A startling reality hit me. My hands had helped to kill thousands of children. These nicely manicured hands were responsible for the loss of life. My hands suddenly seemed disgusting…like they needed to be separated from me. But they couldn’t be. This was me. I was this person. These hands that held my most precious possession in the world the minute after she was delivered from my womb had robbed that moment from countless other women. These were the same hands that held my baby close when she cried. The same hands that that held on to hers when she was learning to walk. Were these really the same hands holding on to this ultrasound probe? Yes, they were.

I always notice people’s hands. People will say, “I look at their eyes, or their smile.” But for me, I always notice someone’s hands. My mother plays the piano. She has beautiful hands…piano hands. I see pianos and I think about how much joy I receive everytime I hear her play…and I immediately remember her hands. My dad’s hands aren’t beautiful. I guess that’s the way it should be. He has the hands of devotion. He has scars on his hands from hard work…some he can recall, some he can not. He has a permanent indention on his ring finger from the thick, gold wedding band he exchanged with my mother 34 years ago. His hands are callused, and never moisturized, but practically turn into cotton balls when he holds my daughter. But my mom’s hands have not just just played the piano, and my dad’s hands are not always hard at work. Their hands have dried many of my tears, bandaged many of my cuts, scratched many of my itches, and held me tight when I needed love and encouragement. I think of their hands and I am reminded of the love I have been given over the years.

For thousands of women, my hands will bring back hurtful memories. My hands have done terrible things. But then I am reminded of something beautiful. We are told in Scripture that we are “the hands and feet of Christ.” No one has more beautiful hands than Christ. And His hands are now mine…if I accept His challenge. Christ didn’t give us His hands and feet so we could tuck them away. We are to show others how beautiful Christ is…and He is in us.

I choose to use my hands to work in the pro-life movement. I choose to stand up to Christ by standing up for the sanctity of human life. I try to do it everyday. I want to come home with my hands dirty from the work of the Lord.

I don’t know how you are using the hands God has given you. But, I believe there is no better place than the pro-life movement to use them. There are many good things to do with your hands, but most of them don’t save the lives of God’s children. I believe someone is waiting for each of us to extend our hand to them and share the message of life. Do that today. Get involved. Don’t wait. Don’t let the hands we have been given go to waste.

OPERATION CONVERSION – DR. DAMON STUTES

OPERATION CONVERSION 6/4/11 – DR. DAMON STUTES.  Dr. Stutes proudly calls his abortion clinic “Fort Abortion” because of the impenetrable nature of the structure.  He is very confrontational with volunteers who pray in front of his clinic.  Dr. Stutes performs abortions in the state of Nevada.  Please commit with me to cover Dr. Stutes in prayer every day for the next 7 days.  This is not a call to contact him or his facility.

No comprende.

So, we used to have the hysterotomy.  Then there was the saline abortion.  Sometimes induced abortions were perfomed.  Then on to partial birth abortion.  There were some other techniques in between those, but those were the main procedures used to abort babies past 18 weeks.  So, if those are gone, then what happens now.  I will tell you.

If a woman desires to have a late abortion, she will need to go in for several appointments.  One appointment consists of placing sterile seaweed sticks, called Laminaria, into her cervix.  These sticks soak up the moisture in the cervix and cause slow dilation.  On another visit, they will inject a long needle into her amnoitic sac…sometimes they actually hit the baby with the needle, sometimes they are only interested in getting the needle into the sac…just depends on the doctor.  Inside this needle is a medication called Digoxin.  Digoxin is a heart medication used on adults to treat congestive heart failure and heart rhythm problems.  But the child in the womb certainly couldn’t benefit from a drug like that, right?  Of course not.  In that long syringe, they have enough Digoxin to overdose a small child…and that is the intent.  The abortionist tells the woman that her child will die instantly, but that is a lie.  Not suprising, right?  They couldn’t tell her the truth…they couldn’t possibly tell her that the child in her womb could possibly struggle and suffer in her womb for up to 48 hours…that she will feel her baby tossing and turning as he or she overdoses and eventually dies.  No, that type of honesty is certainly not something the abortion industry likes to share with their patients.  But that is the reality.  The baby doesn’t die quickly.  It isn’t instant.  It is a struggle.  It is torture…hours and hours of torture.  Then after a couple of days, she will go back to the clinic…they will confirm that her child has indeed overdosed on the medication and they will induce labor.  She will deliver her child.  Sometimes the children are intact.  Sometimes they aren’t.  Since the woman can’t really help push her baby out (she is usually sedated), the doctor will often have to pull the baby out with instruments.  Sometimes the force will cause the baby’s limbs to tear.  Then it is over.  The woman leaves with a huge bag full of medicine and the doctor never sees her again.

So, does that sound like a good option to you?  It doesn’t to me?  If you know anything about partial birth abortion, that’s not pretty either.  But if I am forced to compare the two, nothing makes my stomach turn more than the thought of a full grown, viable child fighting and struggling for its life…being tortured for up to 48 hours.

So, here’s my question.  Why would we fight against one terrible procedure just to ensure that another type of terrible procedure will be performed?  That doesn’t make sense to me.  It actually just doesn’t make sense.  I mean, are we saying that “if you are going to kill a 24 week baby, you should really do it this way, not that way.”  Really?  That’s what we want to say in the pro-life movement?  That’s not what I want to say.  I want to say all abortion is bad.  I want to say no baby should die from abortion…no matter what age.  I want to say that all abortion procedures are terrible and barbaric.  I will not pick and choose which abortion procedure is “better.”
